A note of thanks from our CONTACT US form on our State Website for Firefighter Lee Weber’s Honor Mission:
“Hello, My name is Amber and my husband (Lee Weber) passed away unexpectedly on July 24th. I just wanted to Thank the patriot guard riders for being there at my husbands funeral. I know that Lee would be so grateful, thankful, and honored that the riders showed up for him. What they did for him truly was beautiful. My children and I will forever hold these memories in our hearts. Thank you so much for all that you do.
With deep appreciation,
Amber Weber”
Your commitment to honoring those who choose to keep our Nation secure (Military, LEO, Fire, EMS) helps families through one of their darkest days … by simply being there. The idea of someone they did not know personally being there for their hero can sometimes bring a sense of peace, that what they sacrificed for was not unrecognized.
Thank you ALL for what you continue to do for our Nation’s Heroes!!! ?????✈️
Update received from the Natl. Cemetery of the Alleghenies regarding The Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Ceremony.
Hello,
The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies will be holding a Vietnam Veterans Commemoration Ceremony on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 9:00am. The ceremony will be held at the assembly area across from the Public Information Center.
We will conduct a wreath laying ceremony and no-contact presentation of lapel pins ceremonies for Vietnam War Veterans in honor of their valued service to our Nation. Please pass the word to all Vietnam Veterans who have not yet received a lapel pin and who have not been officially welcomed home.
The commemoration of Vietnam War Veterans Day, which was designated in law as Monday, March 29th, marks the end point in 1973 when U.S. troops left South Vietnam ending America’s direct military involvement.
Due to the on-going COVID pandemic and to protect the health and safety of cemetery team members and guests from the community, I am asking that only 1 representative from each organization attend and welcome home those Vietnam Veterans who have not yet received a lapel pin. I am also asking that all attendees wear face coverings and maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet.
For those who are unable to attend, I want to thank you for your service to our nation and to share with you a short video called A Moment of Truth; Not Forgotten. https://moments.org/watch/not-forgotten/
If you have any questions or concerns, I can be reached at 724-746-4291 Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm.
Take care and Stay Safe!
Ed

Please share with veterans who are 75 years or older and who are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccination.
VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) will host walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics on Saturday, Jan. 16 and Monday, Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at our University Drive campus in Oakland.
To receive a vaccine on these dates, Veterans must:
be 75 years or older
be eligible for and enrolled in VA health care
receive health care at VA Pittsburgh.
If you meet all three of the above criteria, please stop by our University Drive campus during these walk-in clinics. No appointment is necessary.
If you meet all three of the above criteria but cannot make it to these walk-in clinics, please reach out to your primary care team to request an appointment to receive the vaccine.
VAPHS is providing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. This vaccine requires two doses, given approximately 21 days apart.
VA worked with the CDC to develop a phased distribution plan to maximize the benefit of COVID-19 vaccines. In these first weeks, there is limited vaccine available. As vaccine supply increases and we move through the distribution plan, care teams will contact Veterans to let them know of their options. Our goal is to eventually offer a COVID-19 vaccine to all Veterans and VA health care personnel who choose to be vaccinated.
Take care and have a wonderful day!

Good Evening All,
Received from NCOTA, Please share inviting all.
Good afternoon everyone, I hope everyone is healthy and happy.
Just a reminder, we will be having our Wreaths Across America (WAA) clean up on Saturday (1/23/21) starting at 8am. Please meet at the Public Information Center and please dress accordingly. Following the weather, they are talking about a polar vortex that is supposed to hit our area the later part of January.
Please pass the word around for those who can help. We will follow the same protocol we did last year.
Volunteers will gather up the wreaths and bring them to the side of the road.
The red ribbons will then be pulled off the wreaths and placed in the garbage bags provided. The ribbons and not recyclable and they get caught up in the shredder when the wreaths get shredded. This is to ensure that the wreaths get properly recycled.
The caretakers will drive around the cemetery and the volunteers will load up the Toro’s and trailers.
The caretakers will then drive to the maintenance yard where more volunteers will throw the wreaths into the dumpsters.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for all you help and have a wonderful day!
Ed
