The Patriot Guard Riders of Pennsylvania have been asked to stand in honor of, US Navy WWII Veteran, CPO Mathias “Matt” Gutman, at his visitation and service on Thursday, November 14th at First Presbyterian Church in Allentown Pa., Matt faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He participated in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre of Operations, where he made six Pacific Island invasions aboard the LST 553 Landing Ship Tank and was the recipient of six campaign battle stars. LST 553 made six invasions in the Pacific Islands, Peleliu, Leyte, Lingayen Gulf, Subic Bay and Okinawa.
He continued to serve his country in the U.S. Navy Reserve as an instructor and recruiter until retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1973.
Following the service, Matt will be laid to rest with military honors at Cedar Union Cemetery, (Cetronia) Allentown
CPO Mathias “Matt” Gutman is a patriot who served his country with honor. Now it is our turn to stand and honor him.
