The family of USMC Sgt Tristan C. Bethel has requested the Patriot Guard Riders provide escorts and stand to honor his service to our nation. Sgt Bethel died from non-combat related injuries while in Florida.
Sgt Bethel was deployed twice. He served in Afghanistan with the Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). He was most recently attending Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) school in Pensacola, FL. His awards included the Combat Action Ribbon, GWOT Expeditionary & Service Medals, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, as well as numerous other medals and awards.
His family has requested, and we will provide the following: escort from the Philadelphia area to the funeral home for a brief stop then escort to the church on Thursday evening, a flag line for the viewing / service followed by escort and flag line at the cemetery on Friday.
If you are unable to make the escort you can proceed directly to the church Thursday evening and set a flag line. Expected arrival approx 21:30 – 22:00. Drop-offs / join-ins are welcome on the escort.
Sgt Bethel was a patriot who was actively serving our country with honor and now it’s our turn to stand and honor him.
**Note to escort: Due to security concerns regarding the DNC we will not go to the airport but will be meeting the procession in the north Philly area. We will stage at the on ramp at exit 18-A of the blue route (I-476 N across hwy from Ikea). If traveling south take exit 18, cross over the bridge, then turn right to the on ramp at 18-A. Satellite shows a maintenance area along the ramp which I hope is still current. Arrive with a full tank and empty bladder. Travel time is approx 2 1/2 hours.
