Presentation of a Customized Wheelchair
Wyndham Gettysburg
Gettysburg, PA
13 February 2017

The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to attend the presentation of a customized wheelchair to former US Marine Veteran and retired Pennsylvania State Trooper Sgt Bob Bemis.

Sgt Bemis had served as a US Marine from 1986-1992, which included security duties for Marine One, President Ronald Reagan’s helicopter.    Following his service as a Marine, he served 24 years with the PA State Police.  During Sgt Bemis’s tour of duty, as he was approaching a disabled vehicle with a fire extinguisher, Sgt Bemis’s cruiser was struck and pushed into him by a passing vehicle, critically injuring Sgt Bemis.  Even though Sgt Bemis sustained permanent leg damage, he was able to resume his career at the PA State Police Training Academy until he retired in January 2017.

This heartfelt presentation has been made possible through the coordinated efforts of the PA Wounded Warrior, the Adams County Veterans Affairs Office, Keystone Mobility and Gateway Gettysburg.

Let us stand tall and honor Hero Sgt Bob Bemis.
