The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to assist in a PGR Pony Express, Arizona to Schuylerville New York for Joseph “Joe” Thomas Carpenter Jr., a U.S. Navy & Air National Guard veteran to his final resting place on the hallowed grounds of Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Joe entered the United States Navy, having served from 1972 and trained at Fighter Weapons School with many hours of advanced training including Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape (SERE School). His last duty station was in Miramar, California and Joe honorably discharged in 1980 with the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class as an Non Commissioned Officer.
Following time served in the U.S. Navy, Joe enlisted in the New York Air National Guard and was assigned to the 109th Airlift Wing from 1981 until 1982.

Decorations include the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Battle “E” Award and the National Defense Service Medal.
Joe served our country with honor, it’s now our turn to honor him.

Briefing: 10:00 AM

KSU: Approximately 10:30 AM
Speed will be at the speed limit, 70 MPH.
The Mission route will be: I-80 East to I-79 North to I-90 East to the first exit in New York (just before the NY State Toll road) at the Love’s Truck Stop. Approximate distance from PA Welcome Center, 105 miles (1.5 hours). There will be no other planned stops.

Family will NOT be on this Pony Express, they will meet us at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on the day of service.

 

Members can attend all of a mission or any part of the mission. PGR sets no time for a member to escort and or stand a mission. We Thank you for whatever time you give us and the families of our heroes appreciate your time.

The forecast is expected to be in the 80’s and partly cloudy, dress accordingly and NY State is a helmet state and is NOT a handgun carry state.

For safety concerns, use of large bike flags is at the discretion of the individual.
