The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of John Albert Minderler, U.S. Army veteran, to escort then stand in silent honor for the interment at the cemetery.
John entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, served from September of 1961 then transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves September of 1963 until he was honorably discharged, with the rank of Private First Class September of 1967.
Following time served John became a member, now of 50 years with the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department where he was a Former Chief and Past President and was on the Board of Directors, an EMT and the Ambulance President. John was one of the founding members of the Potter County Fire Departments Chief’s Association, member of Allegany (NY) and Tri-County Fireman’s Association, member of the Potter County Local Emergency Planning Committee, the Potter County Fire Coordinator, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Forest Fire Warden, Potter County Emergency Management Coordinator for Shinglehouse and numerous townships in the area and was also a member on the Potter County Hazmat Response Unit.
John was also a 42 year active member of the the American Legion Post #530 in Shinglehouse, where he served several times as Commander and had held many other positions in the organization and he was an active member of the Potter County Honor Guard.
In addition, John had previously served as Mayor of Shinglehouse for 9 years.
John served his country and his community with honor, it’s now our turn to honor him.

Members can attend all of a mission or any part of the mission. PGR sets no time for a member to stand a mission. We Thank you for whatever time you give us and the families of our heroes appreciate your time.
Also, masks are no longer required for those fully vaccinated. If not fully vaccinated, you are required to wear a mask while social distancing.
Before heading out please watch the weather, dress accordingly and bring your 3 X 5 hand held American flags.
