The family of US Army World War II veteran John M. Markel, Jr. has requested that the Patriot Guard Riders stand in silent honor of their hero and escort him to his final resting place. Mr. Markel was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Markel is the father of Monroeville policeman Jim Markel.
