Iwo Jima Flag Raising
74th Anniversary Remembrance

Franklin Borough, PAThe Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corps League Detachment 287 and the American Legion Post #849,
To Stand In Silent Honor for the 74th Anniversary, The Raising of the American Flag.
Just four days into the fighting on 23 February 1945, the United States Marines and a Navy Corpsman raised a U.S. American Flag at the summit of Mount Suribachi, during the Battle of Iwo Jima. These men were Marine Sergeant Michael Strank, Corporal Harlon Block, Private First Class Ira Hayes, Private First Class Harold Shultz and Private First Class Franklin Sousley. SGT Strank, Cpl Block and PFC Sousley died on Iwo Jima less than a month after the Raising of the Flag.
All Heroes from that day till the end of time will be Honored and Remembered for their Service and the Raising of Our American Flag.
Special Guests: SGT Michael Strank’s Sister, Mary Piro & daughter / and Gold Star Families.
Guest Speakers: Jim Rigby, Craig Minnick and Paulette Bulick Siminich.
Lunch will be served after the Ceremony.
This is an Open Invite, all are welcome including children.
