Addendum To Funeral Honors Providers

Funeral Honors Provider:

The National Cemetery Administration (NCA) appreciates the services provided by your volunteer organization in rendering funeral honors for veterans.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, and under the authority provided in 38 CFR 1.218, et seq., the following additional safety direction is being provided for conducting funeral honors until such time as enhanced safety measures are no longer required.

Your funeral honors organization and its members will adhere to the following health and safety guidelines issued by the Center of Disease Control and Prevention, to include:

Maintaining physical distancing (6 feet or 2 meters) when interacting with individuals at the cemetery, to include members of your organization, especially in indoor settings and in vehicles.

Wearing a cloth face covering when performing honors and while indoors at the cemetery, or whenever maintaining physical distancing is challenging. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Washing hands frequently with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before and after eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer ( at least 60% alcohol) if soap and water are not available.

Practicing good respiratory hygiene by covering a cough or sneeze with a tissue and then throwing it away or coughing or sneezing into your elbow.

Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and services using a household of cleaning spray or wipe, particularly in common spaces and where equipment is shared by funeral honors members.

Avoid close contact with individuals who are sick.
