About the Mission:
Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand a Flag Line to honor the service of US Army Veteran Russell “Huck” Hamler. Hamler is the last of the original 3,000 Marauders. Hamler enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18 in June 1942. He completed basic training at Fort Riley Kansas, then was assigned to the 27 Cavalry Troop sent to Puerto Rico. Hamler Volunteered to join 5307 Composite Unit Provisional under commander Brigadier General Frank Merrill.

April 24, 2022, US Army Veteran Russell Hamler was honored by his fellow community members with a presentation of the Congressional Gold Medal. Awarded to members of Merrill’s Marauders for their courage and bravery.

VA regulations 38 CFR 1.218 prohibits the carrying of firearms (either openly or concealed), explosives or other dangerous or deadly weapons while on VA property, except for official purposes, such as military funeral honors.
