The family of Merchant Marine World War 2 Veteran Frank S. Perkowski has requested the Patriot Guard Riders stand to honor his service to his country at his interment ceremony Saturday, July 16th. During World War 2, the Merchant Marine transported war supplies and troops around the world. Though considered civilian volunteers, the Merchant Marine sustained casualties in proportional numbers to the other military branches. In 1988, Merchant Marines who served during World War 2 were finally recognized as veterans of the United States Coast Guard.
Frank served in the Merchant Marines for 15 years. Frank Perkowski is a patriot who served his country with honor. Now it’s our turn to stand to honor him.
