THERE ARE RULES FOR PGR IN ANC.
MD/DC PGR is assigning an ANC Ride Captain to be overall in charge of things once you are in the cemetery, and the two MD Ride Captains bringing the group down are also familiar with the rules of the road in there.
First and foremost,-No loud radio’s playing. (People are mourning their loved ones),
Second,-No smoking in the cemetery,
Third,-When we are traveling in the cemetery, and a horse drawn caisson approaches, we pull over and shut the engines down until it passes. In all instances follow the lead of the ANC Ride Captain.
Fourth,-Large American Flags are not permitted in ANC. They must be removed from the bikes in Gettysburg, Small flags are ok.
Fifth,-Helmets are mandatory when riding in the cemetery
Masks are required inside the administration building
If entering the administration building to use the rest room or any reason, masks are required
Sixth,-There is a 100% ID check done prior to entry. Riders are encouraged to have their Driver’s License easily available when approaching the gate.
Finally,-Concealed/Carry Permits are NOT recognized on military installations and federal reservations. Therefore, do not bring weapons or hazardous materials to this mission.
This cannot be stressed enough. We are not permitted to stand flag lines in ANC, but we do stand and honor the deceased and his or her family. Before we leave, we will render a hand salute and depart for the bikes when the last of the military has left. We used to stand and wait to meet with the family, but that is no longer permitted.
The final rule is we came in together, and we leave together.
No one can stay and play tourist. If they want to do that, when we leave, they can pay to park in the garage and then reenter and walk around the cemetery as much as they want. That is pretty much it.
The ANC Ride Captain is familiar with these rules and all the riders must do is follow his lead!
