The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Charles “Charlie” Belgie Jr US Navy Veteran To Stand In Silent Honor then Escort their Hero for the Interment with Military Honors.
 
Charlie served from January 1948 during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged January 1952. Charlie received a Commendation for duty in a combat zone and the Good Conduct Medal.
 
After time served,Charlie rose through the ranks of the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Department walking in his Father’s footsteps. Charlie began as a Fire Fighter moving to Assistant Chief and then became Chief when his Father retired.Charlie held the titles of Fire Chief, Fire Marshall and Arson Inspector for 35 years. Charlie was a Mentor and a Leader to many of the younger Fireman. Charlie slowly built up the Department to what it is today.
 
Charlie was a member of the Fire Department Instructors Conference, Tri-State Seminars, the National Fire Academy in Maryland, Allegheny County Fire Chief’s Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs and Ohio Valley Fireman’s Association. He also was a member of the, Tin Can Sailors Association, PA Fire and Emergency Services Institute, the and Red Knights Motor Cycle Club. Charlie loved Moon Township and was the driving force for the 911 Memorial and Memorial Garden.
 
Charlie also gave up his valuable time to Honor veterans with the Patriot Guard Riders, Standing For Those Who Stood For Us. With many Missions Charlie attended, Charlie was known for his smile and his stories of service. Charlie will be missed when we are called to To Stand In Silent Honor,for a Hero died today.
 
Charlie served our country and his community with Honor, now its our turn to Stand & Honor him.
