The family of Max D. Smiley has requested that the Patriot Guard Riders stand in silent honor of their American Hero at his interment ceremony. Mr. Shiley served his country in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater aboard the destroyer USS Sproston. His son-in law, Bill Phillips, is a PGR member in North Carolina.
