The Family of SSG Richard Landon Smith have asked the Patriot Guard Riders to stand in honor of Richard’s service to this nation on Friday, May 20th, 2022
Richard enlisted into the United States Army the day after his 17th birthday in 1967 and proudly served in Vietnam as a Medical Specialist. After 9 years of active duty and 2 years reserves, he worked as an Orthopedic Physician Assistant at the Baltimore VA Hospital and was an amazing advocate for veterans there. Many of them called him “Doc”.
for his service Richard received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Good Conduct Medal, and 2 Overseas Bars.
Richard, (along with his wife Deb), was also a proud member of the South Carolina Patriot Guard Riders
SSG Richard Landon Smith served his nation honorably. Now it is our turn to show him the honor and respect he deserves as we stand for him.

Stage at the parking lot opposite the rear of the PA Memorial,
(Turn left at the US flag circle)
DO NOT PROCEED TO COMMITTAL SITE WITHOUT PERMISSION.
NOTE: Concealed carry permits are NOT recognized on military installations and federal reservations. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery is a federal reservation. Do not bring weapons or hazardous materials to this mission.
