James enlisted in the U.S. Army, having served 18 months with the Airborne Infantry at Fort Benning and Fort Polk. Prior to enlisting, James supported his community as a Boy scout, which includes playing Taps for our American Heroes. James mentioned several times to his family that he was most proud of himself, during time served in the U.S. Army. Next up at Bethel Park High School,the Bethel Park Black Hawks VS West Allegheny Indians. During the Football game, the players will be representing 10-15 Fallen Heroes who were killed in the line of duty and those Heroes names will be called for every play and /or touchdown made. Inviting all to honor then enjoy an evening under the Friday Night Lights for some High School football with our Gold Star Families, their friends and loved ones. Veterans honored are those who served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Honor Flight Pittsburgh is a hub of the National Honor Flight Network. Due to their proximity to Washington, D.C, they are a flightless hub that travels by deluxe motor coach. Their mission is to bring veterans to Washington, D.C. on a one-day trip to view the memorials built in their honor at no cost and give them the recognition they so deserve for their service and sacrifices they made. All are welcome including children to stand in honor and Welcome Home our American Heroes. RCIC: Aaron Zeff 9:15 am – 11:00 am Albert "Al" John Stegena The Patriot Guard Riders of Pennsylvania have been invited by the family of Albert "Al" John Stegena , a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a Law Enforcement Officer to stand in silent honor then escort to the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies for the interment. Al enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1955 as an Airplane, and Jet Engine Mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1959, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. Following time served in 1965, Al was hired by Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, beginning a 39-year career in a field in which he excelled and grew to love. Al's dedication led him to assignments on federal, state, and local task forces apprehending violent fugitives and dangerous criminals. Al's work with those different agencies forged many bonds and contacts with other Officers, Agents, and Deputies which served him well and assisted in his ability to be successful. Al spent the latter part of his career working in Drug Enforcement and his knowledge, drive, and determination was an inspiration to the younger Officers. Al was often the "Go To Guy" for those young Officers who needed advice and he enjoyed mentoring them. Al was highly respected by Supervisors, peers, Attorneys, Officers from other Law Enforcement Agencies and those in the court system. Al served our country and his community with honor, it's now our turn to stand in honor for him. Following time served, John became a lifetime member of the VFW Post #191 in Canonsburg and he volunteered weekly at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies which includes many years of assisting with the Monthly Moment of Remembrance, standing in silent honor with the Patriot Guard Riders honoring all veterans each month that were interred without military honors. John served our country and his community with honor, it's now our turn to stand in honor for him. October 29, 2021(1 event) 8:30 am – 12:30 pm Carl Paul "Ed" Launer The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited by the family of Carl Paul "Ed" Launer, a U.S. Army veteran, to stand in silent honor for his service then escort to the cemetery for the interment. Carl proudly served the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era from June of 1963. Then transferred to the U.S. Army Reserves May of 1965, with last duty assignment 1st Battalion 54th Infantry as a Teletype Operator until he honorably discharged May of 1969, with the rank of Specialist 4. Following time served, Carl became a life member of the American Legion Post #474 in Zelienople, serving as Sergeant at Arms and acting with the Legion Honor Guard and Carl also belonged to VFW Post #499 of Evans City. Carl served our country and his community with honor, now it's our turn to stand in honor for him. Kubichar Jr., a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, to stand in silent honor for his service then escort to the cemetery for the interment. Frank proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Cold War and honorably discharged, with the rank of Corporal January of 1985.
