Annual Jefferson Township Veterans Honor Roll Memorial
31 May 2021
Langeloth, PA
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in silent honor as we remember those who have served at the site of the Jefferson Township Veterans Honor Roll Memorial.
The Veterans Honor Roll was originally in front of the former Eldersville Grade School and dedicated in the middle of World War II. The names of the veterans who served ranges from 1943 until the end of World War II were not on the Veterans Honor Roll.
The original was wood and surrounded by a sandstone wall and contained 137 names of Jefferson Township veterans, but the wood section of the Veterans Honor Roll was deteriorating. A decision was made by the board to erect a new Veterans Honor Roll on its property and the contract to erect a new Veterans Honor Roll was signed on the 4th of April 2005.
After researching, over 1100 names of veterans who had lived in Jefferson Township will then be engraved in the granite of the new monument. On the 17th of June 2006, the Jefferson Township Veterans Honor Roll was dedicated.
Rock of Ages in Wintersville, Ohio designed and erected a second monument and a sketch of the original monument was engraved in the granite of this new monument and was dedicated on Memorial Day, Monday, the 26th of May 2008.
The Jefferson Township Historical Society holds ceremonies at the Veterans Honor Roll site on Memorial Day, 9/11 and Veterans’ Day.
All ages are welcome to honor.
